Blog Envy.
Every once in a while a blog comes across that I just have to add to my list of daily or weekly perusing. I recently discovered DIY blogger Erica Domesek and her blog, P.S. - I Made This. Erica brings DIY-ing to an entirely new level…and I am in awe. There are so many projects I want to try, but I think my first will be this floral bangle. I’m not sure if I will use flowers, but this is a craft that is both unique and looks (keyword: looks) fairly easy! I will let you know how everything turns out! Delish Drink
I was looking for a light, summery drink to serve guests the other night and ripped out this recipe for a Silver Basil Collins from the latest issue of InStyle. The drink was like a classic Tom Collins with a twist - lemon and basil. It was perfect for a 90 degree night and looked great in a pitcher!
Recipe: Serves 8
Ingredients:
- 6 lemons, cut into wedges and muddled
- 8 tsp. honey
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 24 fresh basil leaves
- 1 1/2 cups dry gin
- 1/2 cup club soda
- Honeycomb cut into 1/2-inch chunks for garnish
Add all ingredients together in a large pitcher and stir gently.

This is one of the most exciting finds of this summer. Well, for beach lovers like myself. Every time the weather is a perfect 78 degrees with zero humidity and a light breeze, I always find myself saying, “Today is a perfect beach day.” And since I am nowhere near a beach (does the deadly Potomac River count?) I always really miss it. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore, the smell of tanning lotion, and the way the salt water makes my hair look. I wish that someone could replicate this feeling in a bottle, and Bobbi Brown has come pretty close with her fragrance (creatively named) “Beach.”

I am still sporting dark nails these days because I am SO PALE. I came across Deborah Lippmann’s new 3D Holographic polish in Ray of Light and I am obsessed. It is dark but still adds a glimmer of light for the spring!
I hate my wardrobe. Which is why when the new JCrew catalog arrived the other day I should have taken it straight out to recycling. Instead, I found myself looking at it for an hour and earmarking almost every page. Here are my top picks.

As you all know by now, I cannot operate a standard curling iron. I have since invested in two “no-clip” curling irons, but I am no master at those either. Not. Even. Close. I cannot get the perfect roll around the iron because I either burn my hand through the wimpy glove that came with the iron, or I just do it wrong and get weird kinks. Enter the Beachwaver. This no-clip curling iron will not give you any kinks like a normal curling iron, and it rotates left or right on its own, depending on which side you are on for perfect beach waves!
DIY.
I am DYING to try and reupholster something. I’m not really sure why, but that is my next dream DIY project. I have not always been the crafty type, and after one botched attempt to make a mug at a paint-your-own-pottery outing I never thought I would be a DIY-er. But I have done a 180 and crafted everything from wreaths to scrapbooks to lampshades. I feel as though it is now time to conquer upholstery. And now that I have discovered Waverly Fabrics (available at JoAnn’s) I am really excited to start a project.
